Hyams Beach, Jervis Bay

Just shy of three hours south from Sydney Hyams beach is most well-known for one of the whitest sand beaches in the world. Located on the southern shores of Jervis Bay, this breathtaking beach will blow your mind from the beauty of the turquoise crystal clear water to the soft white sand. One of the best parts about this spectacular spot is that you can bring your furry friend along to enjoy the day with you. The beach is located on the outskirts of small bush land so there is no need to worry about your furry friend running out near the road. It is a perfect spot to have a swim, throw some ball and frisbee, go for a walk or just simply sit under the shade with your best friend and take in the view.

Pros:

  •  Not overcrowded. When walking through the main entrance of the beach it can seem busy however if you walk 50m or so past the main entrance there are fewer people and it’s a great spot to set up for the day
  • The sand is very soft to walk on (no sticks/rocks/shells)
  • The beach is very clean
  • The waves are not rough/large majority of the time
  • The beach is secluded (far from any main roads)
  • The water is extremely clean and clear.

Cons:

  • You will need to bring all your essentials with you such as food/water for your dog as there are no shops close by
  • Parking is extremely limited as there are no parking lots and parking on the street is quite difficult and the roads are narrow
  • This is not a patrolled beach
  • There is no shade at the beach, bringing your own equipment for shade is recommended (umbrella/tent).
  • No bins on the beach to dispose of waste
  • There are public toilets, however they are quite far
